The Peleș National Museum will inaugurate on Saturday, October 15, 2022, the exhibition "Centenary of the Coronation. Alba Iulia. 1922". The exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the Coronation in Alba Iulia was created in collaboration with prestigious institutions in the country, such as the National Museum of History of Romania, the National Military Museum "King Ferdinand I", the National Archives of Romania, and with the support of private collectors. Conceived by the painter Costin Petrescu, the symbolic pieces of the Coronation are reunited, for the first time, in the most important exhibition project dedicated to the event that consecrated the centuries-old dream of the Romanians.
The National Museum of History of Romania, main partner in organizing the exhibition "Centenary of the Coronation. Alba Iulia. 1922", generously offered the gold crown of Queen Maria, made by the Parisian firm Falize, the scepter of King Ferdinand I, created by the René Boivin House, from Paris, the dinner menu on October 15, 2022, in Alba Iulia, and jubilee coins issued on the occasion of the event and on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Coronation of the first kings of Greater Romania (1928/29).
The same generosity was shown by the "King Ferdinand I" National Military Museum, which offered for display the cavalry corps general's uniform, which belonged to King Ferdinand I, and the cloaks of rulers Vlad IV and Bogdan II, also created according to the design of the painter Costin Petrescu, for the historical procession that paraded in Bucharest on October 16, 1922.
The National Archives of Romania have made available the Daily Diary of Queen Maria, from 1922, the programs of the Coronation Celebrations, as well as eulogies addressed to the sovereigns of Greater Romania.
The exhibition will be accompanied by the album "Centenary of the Coronation. Alba Iulia.1922". Coordinated by historian Narcis Dorin Ion, director of the Peleș National Museum, who is also a co-author, the album comprises 360 pages and contains exhaustive studies on this defining moment for the history of the Romanians, carried out by personalities from the academic and museum world: Ioan Aurel Pop, president of the Romanian Academy, Răzvan Theodorescu, vice-president of the Romanian Academy, Nicolae St. Noica, director of the Library of the Romanian Academy, Ioan
Opriș, Ion Giurcă, Archimandrite Policarp Chițulescu, Ernest Oberländer-Târnoveanu, general director of the National Museum of History of Romania,
Cornel Ilie, deputy director of the National Museum of History of Romania, Carmen Tănăsoiu, Mircea-Alexandru Hortopan, Corina Dumitrache.
