We invite you to listen to a special concert that will pay tribute to the creative personality of composer Anatol Vieru, whose death has been more than 20 years ago.
His music is still underestimated and hides many treasures, so 5 Romanian composers invite you to listen for the first time to new works that they composed with the inspiration of Vierian themes and stylistic particularities.
The same challenge was answered by 5 musicians who will perform the proposed works with freshness and who we hope will bring you closer to the creation of Anatol Vieru, a prominent composer for 20th-century Romanian classical music and one of the most interesting creators in recent history.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 5, from 4:00 PM, at the Peleș Castle Concert Hall, as part of the "Citadel of the Arts" Season. Admission is free, by reservation at rezervari.ucimr@gmail.com
The host will be journalist Sebastian Crăciun.
Within the project entitled "5 for Vieru", Sabina Ulubeanu, Mihai Murariu, Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi, Sebastian Țună and Andrei Petrache worked during the ICon Arts Transilvania Festival, under the guidance of composer Diana Rotaru, delving deeper into the music of Anatol Vieru from an analytical, emotional, human perspective, in an attempt to recover and rediscover his genius.
Each expressed their belonging to the Romanian compositional space through a work dedicated to a solo instrument. They were chosen following a national selection by an international committee formed by composers Dan Dediu, Doina Rotaru and Diana Gheorghiu – musical curator, German guitarist Reinbert Evers and Mrs. Kazuko Shimada – president of the Japanese association Romanian Music Society, partner of the project.
The newly composed works will be heard both in Romania and in Japan, by introducing them into the mandatory repertoire of the final stage of a prestigious musical interpretation competition organized in Tokyo and now in its 15th edition. Romanian music will thus have the opportunity to be known and appreciated by hundreds of performers from all over the world, who will strive to play it at the highest level.
They will interpret:
Mihai Murariu – piano
Andreea Țimiraș – cello
Ladislau Csendeș – violin
Adrian Buciu – flute
Irina Radulescu – marimba
"5 for Vieru" is a cultural project organized by UCIMR and co-financed by AFCN.
